Question Linux Mint faster, more efficient, than Ubuntu Gnome?

Is Linux Mint (Cinammon) faster and more efficient than Ubuntu Gnome (with minimal install) on less hardware?

Why? What is so special about Linux Mint that makes it faster or more efficient on lesser hardware?
Is it Linux Mint, or is it Cinammon?

Can the same performance and efficiency be accomplished with installing Ubuntu + Gnome + Cinammon + Minimal Install ?

This is an older article, but presumably still relevant:

    Thank you in advance.

It will depend on many different things, in particular your hardware and how good your graphic display works.

Personally I find both the gnome desktop of Ubuntu and cinnamon in Mint a bit too slow for my liking, hence my use of Xubuntu with Xfce4, which in my opinion is the best DE available, and even though it has relatively low resource usage it can be easily made to look great and is extremely configurable.

I'm sure, however, that you will get many other opinions about this from other users so just try as many different versions as you can and choose what works for you.
