18.04 Microphone not working (HP Pavilion dv9000)

    Hello, everybody.

Everything on my system is working just dandy, except the microphone, which is not working at all. The problem started after I installed Skype.

    My PulseAudio settings are:

I've tried purging Skype and I've also tried reinstalling both PulseAudio and ALSA Mixer, and nothing works. What can I do to solve the problem? I'd really like to use my microphone again. Please help.

This really seems to be a major problem. I wonder what the cause is.

My guess is that some script that addresses the microphone from the server makes it return to Default Settings. Mere speculation, I'm not a very technical person.

    I thought maybe it might've been a bug that's since been patched, but doing a `sudo apt dist-upgrade` didn't help. I'm stuck.
