Installing through terminal and using Proxy

    Hello,
Sorry if this is in the wrong section,
I'm using Ubuntu V14.04 and am trying to install via the terminal for my course.
However I am using a proxy that requires authentication, terminal doesn't ask for this and cannot download/install any of the files I want.
Is there a way of making Terminal ask for Authentication or giving it the correct details to use.

    Thanks,

I do not know proxy, but 14.04 is EOL - end of life.
You will not be able to install as repositories are closed.

They did do something unusual and release 14.04.6 but it expired April 2019
