Thumbs down Wifi will no longer turn on - hp laptop

    Hello Ubuntuns,
I have been running 18.04.2 for some time with no issues. A couple of days ago, the WIFI would not turn on. This happened both with the built in unit and a Panda unit I tried in usb. Both units were recognized by the system. When i clicked on the turn WIFI on items in the menu, it winked out but nothing happened. WIFI remained off. There were no updates I am aware of. I did reload the OS. No improvement. I have run the script to create a wifi-info.txt which I will attach below. Any help much appreciated, thanks in advance!

Deactivate SecureBoot, that driver is not signed

Make sure you didn't turn off the radio from the keyboard. I do that occasionally on my HP laptop. Drives me crazy.

Is this a Dell laptop or an HP laptop. I am confused.

Thanks for the replies. It's Dell. My desktop is an HP - typo. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: Wifi will no longer turn on - hp laptop

Looks like the matter is resolved, though not the way I wished. First, there's nowhere in the boot menus to disable secureboot. Second, there's no mokutil on my system. I planned on loading it manually but - after another load of the OS in minimal mode the system now will not boot at all. The system utilities state the HDD is ok, but they don't do a really good test. Looks like I may need a new laptop. (Still don't understand what changed to disable wifi in a fully functional machine the day before. And probably never will now.)
