python 3.6 is also installed on this box it came as the default. to fix python 3 problems i did
Code:
# apt install idle-python3.7 libpython3.7 libpython3.7-dbg libpython3.7-dev libpython3.7-minimal libpython3.7-stdlib libpython3.7-testsuite python3.7 python3.7-dbg python3.7-dev python3.7-doc python3.7-examples python3.7-minimal python3.7-venv
to set python3.7 as the default i did
Code:
sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/python3 python3 /usr/bin/python3.6 0
sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/python3 python3 /usr/bin/python3.7 1
sudo update-alternatives --config python3
here are 2 choices for the alternative python3 (providing /usr/bin/python3).
Selection Path Priority Status
------------------------------------------------------------
* 0 /usr/bin/python3.7 1 auto mode
1 /usr/bin/python3.6 0 manual mode
2 /usr/bin/python3.7 1 manual mode
