    Firefox has adware/malware?

    Hello,

I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 and I have installed both Firefox and Chrome. For some sites I use mainly Firefox and I have installed on it AdBlocker. The thing is that AdBlocker is not very effective if I start the browser on a page which already has adds. Usually I need to do a refresh to have it working.

What I noticed is that when this app doesn't work I get lots of porn adds. Is it normal to have on some sites only porn adds? All the time? I tried to do a search on google regarding adware and there was a link for quora (and I'm also a Quora user so I used that site multiple times). I try to click that link and the page gets red and blocked. So I tried another link to a different page but again about removing adware and malware and I get the red page. Here is a link which gives me the red page:
I tried that link on Chrome and there is no issue. Is it possible that I have Firefox infected with some malware? What can I do to fix it?

For anyone else **do not click** on the link shown in OP's first post.
Going to see if the staff will remove it.
Sorry to hear about your problem though if in good faith.

I'd close Firefox, then go into the Home folder, then hit Ctrl+H to show hidden, then rename the .mozilla forlder to .mozilla_old, then reopen Firefox and see if it acts the same.

Copied the link before it could get removed, so I can check it out in a VM.

That site is geared to Windows users. I've never heard of the anti-virus they're offering up.

The site itself is in good standing with checks, but dose not mean someone behind the scene isn't a bad actor.

    Re: Firefox has adware/malware?

    Google is checking it now!
I don't know if I will hear back or not. (I seldom do from them)
It's still going, but so far google shows:
    Current status

    No unsafe content found
    Site info

This info was last updated on Jul 11, 2019.

Site safety can change over time. Check back for updates.
That's all i got so far.

    Re: Firefox has adware/malware?

That was a link, as I said. There is also a link (I can post it if anyone is interested and I won't get suspended or something) from Quora which I think it is a pretty safe site. So I don't think that the issue is with the site but with my browser. I find weird that the only thing in common for the sites I tried is that they talk about solutions against adware and malware.
