    broken wifi connection

My Asus laptop (dual boot) runniing Ubuntu ('uname -a' command output: Linux srpub-U46E 4.15.0-54-generic #58-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jun 24 10:55:24 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux) stopped connecting to my wifi even though it is on the list. It was working until a few days.

I followed the procedure suggested at the link https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=370108. So hopefully the relevant information needed by the forum volunteers is available to them.

As far as I can tell the Networking card in my laptop is the following:
    Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N + WiMAX 6150.

I would like to add that the laptop running Windows 10 connects to my wifi.

I would appreciate help in posting this on Networking and Wireless (I could not figure out how to post there).
    Thanks a lot.
