Ubuntu off a cd?

I frequently run Knoppix off of a CD on my Windows box. Can I run Ubuntu off a CD too? If so what is the procedure?

I don't believe any of the current Ubuntu ISO files will fit on a CD, but you could use a DVD or USB flash drive.

Not on a cd, not anymore.
You need a dvd.

The file size is too big for cd anymore.

Same procedure as any other
Download Ubuntu burn it a dvd put disk in dvd drive start machine and select boot from dvd or cd/dvd drive.
Select Try Ubuntu to run a live session.
