I've always just completed a Google search for the type of image, right-click, View Image, then Save as when I've wanted a background image. Most of the time I have one of my pictures taken while hiking as my background.

I use my own photos. I KNOW they are safe.

No need to download wallpapers, just take a shapshot of anything you want.
