    How good is GNOME Shell now?

    I used Ubuntu few years ago and it was with GNOME 2. Is GNOME Shell stable and good enough now?

    Depends on what good enough means to you.
    It's functional and works. It's fairly stable. Mileages may vary, though.
    It can be a hunger bear, so if you pride something that uses the lowest resources it won't be something I'd recommend.

    Ubuntu MATE is built on old school gnome2. Works real well and fairly light on resources.
