I guess the gold standard would be what works best for you. Chrome has always been suspect regarding privacy. I use it because of its speed, nothing else. I am doing home remodeling, and use Chrome to communicate with vendors. Not surprised, I got a ton of email from unwanted ads. I have one email account that Chrome knows about, the rest are tucked away for safe keeping. So I know what to except.

Firefox has lately been surprising fast, or was. Then it wasn't so fast. Now I run Nightly and it is fast. The reason I have switched to Nightly is Chrome I believe is responsible for my new pc to reboot/restart. Can't prove it, but right now Nightly doesn't do that. Firefox is very firm on your privacy, if that's what's important. Regarding security, I would think Firefox leads in that areas as well.

    Neither one.

Five and a half one way six another.

Depends on what article you read.

You take a chance any time you go online.

The user is the weakest link imo.

I've never had a problem with either one or for that matter any browser.

I run FF ESR with NoScript and AdBlock+, no third party cookies allowed plus set for private window viewing. That would be my definition of a safe browser. If I need more security than that, I probably shouldn't be there

lynx, by far, is the safest web browser. It has a few limitations.
Next, I'd say dillo is 1000x more safe than any popular browsers. It too has a few limitations.

Neither lynx, nor dillo, will work at all here (UF), but they work fine for many websites.

Secure and safe are different things.

Chrome is good while we compare speed, but its always being suspected for watching user activities. Firefox is as good as chrome if you can compromise with slightly less speed.

I always use both Firefox and Chromium inside a firejail sandbox.

Agreed plus I use the old cookie monster extension where you can white list sites and temp allow cookies for a site. Personal preference excludes any web kit/blink browser.
