Who is using irc in 2019?

Who is using irc in 2019?
Many communities has spontaneously grow in other places like Telegram groups that replaced old irc chat.
Although, developers at canonical still encourage the use of irc as the main platform for support and coordination of the projects. 🤔

    I do. I'm in 5 channels now.
One of those channels has been pushing people to use discord. I read the discord privacy policy and decided it wasn't for me.
Telegram is centralized too. No thanks.

I prefer federated services. Ones without a single company running everything.

Don't forget that Wikimedia uses IRC so us Wikimedia Foundation users sometimes use it also.

Mozilla is shutting down their IRC server sometime in the future.

I think IRC died out when the Social Media craze took off, I may be wrong.

Binary characterizations are as old as human history. IRC has not "died out". It has a reduced memetic footprint these days, but it is still alive and kicking.

I would agree that it tends to be concentrated into the geek world, which is fine by me.
