Is there Ubuntu sand box for win7 software?

I have older software that requires win7 to run, it will not run on win10. I have a spare hp, low end laptop available to set up on Ubuntu. So my question is this, Can Ubuntu run windows 7 software? If I remember correctly there is a sand box option or addition which windows can run in?

You can only run some Windows software via a compatibility layer called "Wine", not natively in Linux. Not all windows software will run well on wine. To see if your win 7 software will run in wine search its name in the Application Database link at winehq, --link to winehq site--. Regards, yeti.

I believe you are referring to running windows 7 in a virtual environment, I suggest you look here:

    https://www.virtualbox.org/

Virtualization is your best option in my opinion.

+1, @ OP this is the best option if your "low end laptop" you mention in the first post has the necessary resources to run virtualization software. What model is your HP laptop you referred to in the opening post? Can you post hardware specs for the model here?
