weird things comes up when i do close my notebook screen

hi, i just move on to ubuntu cz im tired with windows thingies, im pretty new on ubuntu stuff. so when i close my notebook screen it should be go to sleep state right, but when i opened up the background screen seems broken (like really broken monitor) but after i log on and then changed the background everything just run fluid normal and if i close the screen again that things happen over and over and over. im using ubuntu 19.04 on asus a456urk. can anyone helps? (

Do you mean that the screen is physically broken, or that it looks that way?
