I occasionally use Gimp (GNU image manipulation), but I doubt it has the facilities Photoshop has.

Even though you've been using Photoshop and Illustrator for 5 years, how much have you used, and do you actually need all the power that I presume they have?

I've never used Photoshop or Illustrator so I ask that question as I am wondering if Gimp could do all you want and need very easily; it is certainly very powerful and I suspect many of its users, like me, use only a small percentage of what it can do.

Other suggestions to do this are also listed at

Thread moved to Ubuntu, Linux and OS Chat.

There's also Photopea, which is a free online clone of the popular Photoshop. It works totally online and has support for .psd, .xd, .sketch, .xfc, raw and also the most common formats like jpg, gif, etc. Although not as powerful as Photoshop, it is possible to make the simplest edits and with the advantage of not having to install anything on the PC.

gimp has plugins that can be added to it to make it more powerful.

not sure exactly what you need or what speed you need. most people don't use photoshop or use a fraction of it. however some professionals do need it.

like for example blender (for video editing) - to me it's overly complicated. i don't need so many functions when editing a video. but professionals do need them and know how to use them.

Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?
Disk backup (works on newer PC): Clonezilla
