Re: Firefox add-ons disabled and fail to download

I've run the updater on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS but there has been no updates for Firefox. Should I just wait for an update?

The Firefox 66.04 can be updated from the main server of the development branch Eoan Ermine.

Is Canonical actually going to address this issue at all? Even Mozilla have fixed the problem. Is there anything I should do, apart from download a default browser that isn't broken?

Firefox 66.0.4 was built yesterday. It's being tested and as per the post previous to yours is currently available in Ubuntu's development version, Eoan Ermine so its release can be considered to be in progress.

For what it's worth, Fedora users don't yet have Firefox 66.0.4 either - it's currently being tested.

OK thanks. I figured it was something like that. I have a second browser anyway. I just wondered if I needed to do anything specific. I reckon I can wait lol.

Looks like 66.0.4 works according to comments , but I'm using 66.0.3 and have ublock working ok here.

Re: Firefox add-ons disabled and fail to download

As a test I have just upgraded all my FF installs to 66.0.4 by using the firefox ppa (probably just for this hiatus period) and that is working properly, just as it should, without enabling studies or setting the xpinstall.signatures.required to false in about:config.

I am sure mozilla and/or Canonical will get that version to us in normal repos very quickly, but I simply wanted to try the ppa version for my own information, not as a recommendation for other users to follow.

What! No Way! I gotta have it now.

Perhaps a patch for impatience is available.
