    Minecraft Crashing

I installed Minecraft directly from the Gnome store, but I can't get it to run.

When I load it, all seems to work. It's updated to the current version, but the minute I press "Play" the game just crashes, and I can't find the error log. It just blinks off the screen. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hmmm... I don't think Minecraft comes by default in Ubuntu?!

Could you verify if it was Minecraft or Minetest and with Gnome Store do you mean the default Software Center that comes with your distribution and what distribution that may be?

I am using Ubuntu MATE 18.04, and, sorry, you're right: it wasn't the Gnome store. The version of Minecraft that I installed I got off of the Software Boutique that comes with MATE.

    And no, it's not Minetest.

this could be just the launcher and not the actual game. Did you purchase the game?

Yes. I have an active account. I blocked it out on the screengrab that I posted (where it says "profile" and "Welcome"), but according to the launcher I am logged into my account.

    Re: Minecraft Crashing

From the screenshot I see it says "Ready to update & Play" so it would seem possible it is something to do with the system unable to update. My suggestion would be to remove the game via the same method of installation. Ensure you have Java installed, download the game from the Minecraft website and install it in the normal way and see if that works.
