File is already open in another window

    Hi,
I am trying to open a text file in Ubuntu. I am getting the message file is already opened in another window. Somebody please guide me how to close other instances of opened file.

Try cycling through your open windows with alt + tab.

Don't mind me, I'm only passing through.

'lsof' on the command line will give you a list of all currently opened files. Search that list for the name of the file you want to open like so
    Code:
lsof|grep 'the name of you file'
The first column of the output is the name of the program.

All good advice but to keep it very simple log out. And then log in and all previous activity is gone.
