    Samba won't do a guest share of Videos folder despite same settings as other shares

    On my Windows PC, I have managed to remove authentication requirements for all of my shares using the marked answer here on AskUbuntu, except my Videos folder. I ran the chown and chmod commands listed in that guide on all 6 of my shared folders. My Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, and Software folders guest share with no issue, but when I attempt to map or open /mnt/files/Videos on a Windows PC, I'm shown the typical authentication dialog that doesn't accept any credentials and then says "Permission denied." On running the command "testparm," I've discovered that samba seems to be applying the parameters "directory mask = 0777" and "valid users = %S" to the Videos share, even though I didn't set either of those, despite not applying them to any of the other shares which, as far as I know, I've configured exactly the same way.

    Samba reads smb.conf from section ( specified by brackets [...] ) to section.

    When samba reads your [Videos] share it will not stop until it encounters another [ ... ] tag - if there is one. In your case this is what it sees as your Videos share:

    Go back into smb.conf and but a # sign in front of the blue lines above so samba will ignore those lines and your [Videos] share will look like the rest.
