    Re: Why Ubuntu over Fedora

I picked Ubuntu for two reasons: I'm lazy, and I like orange. I like that every couple years, there is a guaranteed LTS. That means I shouldn't have to worry about a new package breaking my existing workflows. I also like how, after installation, a user is dropped into an environment where they don't have to worry about installing codecs or whatever, and just focus on using the computer to complete a task.

    But Fedora is nice too.

    Re: Why Ubuntu over Fedora

I choose Ubuntu because of the LTS releases every two years and Fedora though it's easy for the most part to upgrade to new releases just doesn't provide the stability I'm looking for. Besides Ubuntu out othe box at least for me is much simpler to setup and get running. I've been a long time .deb fan also.

actually the new installer over at the redhat/fedora are well made and to me are quite easy to use (especially compared to the old anaconda).
Easy to understand Ubuntu manual with lots of pics: http://ubuntu-manual.org/
Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?
Disk backup (works on newer PC): Clonezilla

    I have nothing against Fedora.

I have used it in the past.

IMHO the problem with Fedora is stability.

After a fresh install I installed all the available

updates and then got a black screen.
