Cannot connect to Ubuntu single signon to activate livepatch

I have Ubuntu 18.04 x64. Whenever I get system updates, I get a dialog box at the end of the update that says
Tip: You can use Livepatch to keep your computer more secure between restarts.
I click on the box that says
    Settings & Livepatch
I get another dialog box that says
To continue you need an Ubuntu Single Sign-On account.
I then click Sign In... Another dialog box pops up asking me for my email address and password. I enter them, check the circle that says
I have an Ubuntu Single Sign-On account
and click Connect. I get the following message
Error connecting to Ubuntu Single Sign-On server.
Something went wrong, please try again
I can sign on to the Ubuntu Single Sign-On server through my browser. Why does this not work?

I have this same issue, only, for me, it is rare that I even get the login box to come up. Mostly, the first sign in box does nothing.

I am also having this issue. I tried this on 1/15/2019 and 1/16/2019. With the same symptons as above. Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS, Kernel 4.15.0-43-lowlatency
