Ubuntu 18.04 Minimum Connectivity with DLink - DWA131

Novice Ubuntu user here, I have installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and I'm having issues with the connection. I have issues connecting to my university WiFi. The USB adapter (DLink - DWA131) works fine with Windows 10, but it's buggy with Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. The network adapter in my laptop is Intel Wireless-N 7260, and it's already buggy before I even install Ubuntu. I am currently connected via Bluetooth tethering, and it's also quite buggy as I get disconnected randomly when my phone is less than 1 meters away.

    Here's my pastebin:
    http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/BZthFpgy4Z/

    lsusb gave me this:

    Code:
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 8087:8000 Intel Corp.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

I ran this command in the terminal and I got the the results:

    I have also tried:
    sudo apt update
    sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:hanipouspilot/rtlwifi

It turns out that none of the solutions above worked. May someone suggest a solution that could fix the WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity issues? Thank you.

Its only one. What about the internal Intel card?! Why using a dongle?

The Intel card works but it's faulty. It's been faulty since the Windows 8.1 / Windows 10 update, so I had to get a dongle to replace it. Both adapters are getting low connectivity somehow.

    Try for the internal card
    Code:
echo "options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi-11n.conf
    sudo modprobe -rfv iwlwifi
    sudo modprobe -v iwlwifi

Re: Ubuntu 18.04 Minimum Connectivity with DLink - DWA131

I ran the code and I received this output:
    options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1
modprobe: FATAL: Module iwlwifi is in use.

It shows that the same output even if I turn off the WiFi, the connection remains the same. Is it possible that I have to disable the adapter first?

Re: Ubuntu 18.04 Minimum Connectivity with DLink - DWA131

    Redo the file
    Code:
    sudo -H gedit /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
    Add the following for contents
    Code:
    # /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
    # iwlwifi will dyamically load either iwldvm or iwlmvm depending on the
    # microcode file installed on the system. When removing iwlwifi, first
    # remove the iwl?vm module and then iwlwifi.
    remove iwlwifi \
    (/sbin/lsmod | grep -o -e ^iwlmvm -e ^iwldvm -e ^iwlwifi | xargs /sbin/rmmod) \
    && /sbin/modprobe -r mac80211
    I would suggest
    Code:
    sudo sed -i 's/wifi.powersave = 3/wifi.powersave = 2/' /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf
    systemctl restart network-manager.service
    See if that improves anything

@praseodymThanks for the reply, but rebooting didn't help.

@jeremy31Thanks for your reply, I have tried the solution you proposed, but I don't think it improved the connection. The connectivity remains at the same level, basically being able to connect to a modem is based on luck at the moment.
