    X11 conf file location

I'm changing 70-synaptics.conf to work better for my macbook. Where do I put it so it won't be lost when I get a distro update? I found the file in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d . In the file it says
    Code:
    # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE, your distribution will likely overwrite
    # it when updating. Copy (and rename) this file into
    # /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d first
However, I do not have an xorg.conf.d directory in /etc/X11. Is the note correct? Should I create this directory? What should I rename the file to?

The files in /usr/share/X11/ are just example files. Files in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ will be used.

You can create the directory. I believe the numbers are to do with the order they are processed in. It's to make it easier to manage than when everything was put in a single xorg.conf file.
