    hplip installing issues

I saw this thread while searching for an answer for a similar problem.

HPLIP will not install on my computer.
    Ubuntu 16.04
    2009 MacBook Pro

The installation gets to the very end then tells my I have invalid characters. I have tried from both a removable drive and the downloads

    Code:
There was a problem opening the file "/home/compy/downloads/hplip-3.16.7.run".

The file you opened has some invalid characters. If you continue editing this file you could corrupt this document. You can also choose another character encoding and try again.
Is there an easier way for me to install it? And how do I install the gui?

Thread moved to Apple Hardware Users for a a better fit

Also, please don't hijack other people's threads. Not only it dilutes community effort but it's also the wrong way to get the proper and adequate help to your problem.

You haven't said if you tried to install from the repos? HPLIP-GUI is in the ubuntu repositories.
