Lubuntu 18.04 update: Failed to download respository information

I've been trying to update via software updater but after a week of the following:

Can't update. I don't know why.

The pop-up message tells you to check your internet connection. Did you do that? Have you tried to update using the lxterminal to attempt the update?

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
