Help installing ACE

Hello,

I have tried installing ACE (http://download.dre.vanderbilt.edu/) i tried following the steps from the installation page (http://www.dre.vanderbilt.edu/~schmi...E-INSTALL.html)

I am pretty new to Linux and none of the stuff written there seems to work.

Could any of you guys explain in a more simple way how to install ace?

Do you absolutely need to build it from source ? At the end of the download page are links to OpenSuSE Build Service. There are directories there with .deb-packages for various versions of Debian and Ubuntu. A short look at the contents of those directories makes me think they are meant to be used as repositories so you can just 'apt-get' them.
