Choosing an OS for my 2012 Acer TravelMate B113-M Netbook. Help please.

Question: Most lightweight Linux Distro with the biggest support community available for 2018? I am torn between Lubuntu and Xubuntu? Are there any others and what should I choose? Full Specs are here: https://www.cnet.com/products/acer-t...-gb-hdd/specs/ NOTE: I replaced the RAM and filled them up to 8GB and the 500GB HDD was replaced with a 120GB Patriot SSD yesterday.

Basically you can run any linux. With 4G of ram you can run any *buntu, My preference is xubuntu over lubuntu. More polished, less buggy.

with those specs i would use Kubuntu

yes any distro is fine. you can also install barebones and add only a windows manager like icewm if you need it as light as possible.

Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?
Full disk backup (newer kernel -> suitable for newer PC): Clonezilla
User friendly full disk backup: Rescuezilla

Which if these three has a more active community of users? Xubuntu, Lubuntu or Kubuntu?

All are very active. maybe Xubuntu and Kubuntu have more users. Hard to say.

you can also explore the Ubuntu based Linux Mint. very good start in linux.

I am actually an experienced user on Ubuntu derived OS's. I just wanted to know which of those three distro's has a more active community and dev team.
