Ubuntu has reinstall without losing data, but not Lubuntu??

Something went wrong and I can't start up my Lubuntu 18.04 normally. It does start through the recovery mode though.

So I decided to reinstall Lubuntu with a liveCD and without losing my data, however, I was really surprised that there was no option for this, as the only options are ones where you lose data.

After looking around, UBUNTU has this option, I just wonder why? And I wonder how can I reinstall Lubuntu and keep all my files, is this possible?

It depends on how you installed your system. If the /home is a separate partition (as opposed to a directory on /), then you can always re-install without formatting and losing your data. Many/most Linux distributions do not do this by default, you have to select the disk partitioning schema during installation.

So, all you can do now, is to backup your data before you re-install.
