    How do I change a user to admin?

    In Ubuntu and debian, you add them to the adm and sudo groups. I have no clue about PopOS.

    You asked how to make a user into an admin. That is how ... for ubuntu and debian systems.
    Admin users have rights to use sudo to elevate a job to other userid's, like root.

    Or did you just want to change the name that gets displayed and not actually provide any additional rights? The username doesn't matter on Unix systems. It is the group membership that does.

    I meant permanently.

    Actually my mistake I want to turn an admin into a user, permanently.
