Ubuntu Server 18.04 graphics in console is extremely slow

    Hello,
I've just installed Ubuntu 18.04.1 to a server with Supermicro Motherboard X11SSH-TF with Graphics Aspeed AST2400 BMC build in and during boot up graphics get slow.

    I've recorded video example.

During boot up is changed resolution (not possible to calibrate lcd) and everything is slowed down. LCD is connected with VGA cable (no other connector on motherboard).
When I tried to install Aspeed driver, this message is returned:

    Code:
Can't find proper X Window Version, Please update driver manually!!
Also Ubuntu Server installer was "bigger" than the screen.
    Any idea?

Re: Ubuntu Server 18.04 graphics in console is extremely slow

I also just installed Ubuntu 18.04.1 on a Super Micro server (x10qrh) and the same exact slow boot up graphics are happening to me too.
In addition, the laggy graphics continue even after the system boots to the login prompt.
This lag only happens from the video output from the motherboard. SSH runs at full speed like you'd expect.

I have also recorded video of an LCD monitor connected to the VGA output:

I have the same issue and opened a bug at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...x/+bug/1808183
Please have a look at this and eventually tick that you have that problem too.
