Are you trying to use the former Kali usb on Ubuntu?
Did you use the GUI to access in your file manager?
Did you try to manually mount it? If so, what command?
If you used some software to try to create a bootable Linux (Kali) on the usb, you need to use GParted to create a new partition table on the usb. When you do this, make sure you have the correct drive.
