It should be. I think the Ryzen 5 issues encountered early on have been resolved. (That wasn't a problem just for Linux. It was an industry wide problem with available motherboards.)
The machine I am using right now has a Threadripper 1950x and 32GB of ram on an ASRock X399 Taichi, three 4-port NICs (besides the two onboard) and three NVMe storage devices.
Runs like a champ!
