New update systems? Delta or P2P?

    Hello,
I would like to ask you if it's (TEORICALLY) possibile to change the update system in ubuntu to save server's bandwith.

    1) I know that Fedora uses (or has used) the delta updates to download/upload only the part of the packages that have been modified. Can the delta updates be used for Ubuntu? Do you know about some project looking for a future implementation?

    2) This one is pretty futuristic I think Windows has a P2P updates system and some users share the update packages with other users to save server's bandwith and provide a faster speed. I know that this would be criticised a lot, but I'm just asking to know if it would be possibile. Like a big Torrent of updated packages (maybe only for the big ones).

Please keep in mind that I'm not saying that these systems are better than the actual one. I'm just asking if it would be possibile and convenient for the server bandwith.
