Hi all

I'm an Ubuntu user on a Windows laptop, I also have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) which is starting to get the graphics card kernel panics (and Apple have ended their repair program). I've tried using an app called gfxcardstatus to try and force the laptop to only use the integrated graphics but this doesn't really work as it keeps switching to the Nvidia GPU when I do things like watch Netflix.

I'm wondering if it would be possible to install Ubuntu on this MacBook and force it to only ever use the integrated graphics card and never switch to the Nvidia GPU? This seems like a logical approach that other people could have thought of before (the manufacturing issue is very common) but I can't seem to be able to find any information or guides on anyone doing it before. Any ideas/suggestions etc?

Thanks

John
