Since a couple of days, I am experiencing interrupted audio playback on my box. There are small clicks and pops and sometimes, audio is interrupted completely.
I am currently running
I believe this is a Kernel-based problem because it affects audio from VLC, as well as audio from Flash.Code:$ uname -a Linux TeurerSpass 4.15.0-29-generic #31-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jul 17 15:39:52 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ cat /etc/issue Ubuntu 18.04 LTS \n \l
My update history, as far as the Kernel is concerned:
- 2018-07-14: Kernel 4.15.0-28
- 2018-07-18: Kernel 4.15.0-29
I first noticed these problems yesterday (2018-07-17) so I think the problems started with 4.15.0-28.
Here is the output of VLC when a larger dropout happens:
Any ideas what this could be?Code:main warning: playback way too late (180536): flushing buffers alsa error: cannot estimate delay: Input/output error main warning: playback way too early (-1192030): playing silence main debug: inserting 52568 zeroes alsa warning: cannot write samples: Broken pipe
I am also noticing slightly reduced responsiveness. Maybe the kernel is not allocating enough time to VLC?
Thanks for any ideas.
