Ubuntu server 18.04, Magento 2.x install unsuccessful

    Hello,
As part of installation first readiness check is run.
1.It requires PHP version 7.0 or 7.1 .As I have installed all PHP 7.0,7.1 and 7.2 phpinfo in the browser and php -v indicates I am using php7.2. I also uninstalled php7.2 with command *sudo apt purge php7.2 .* but the readiness check is unsuccessful and php -v gives php7.2.
    2. PHP extension mcrypt is missing.
How do I point php to 7.0 or 7.1?
How do I install php extension mcrypt?
    Thanks for any replies.

Why don't you upgrade to PHP 7.2?
What version of Magento are you using?
