What to Look for in program 'DISK'

Using the program "DISKS", and looking at the Headings - Value / Normalized / Threshold / Worst / Type / Assessment

What does one look for basicly? Is there a website showing us what to look for? Other than of course OK under Assessment!

Just curious & learning. Mine says OK on a SATA drive (main is SSD), but I'm starting to hear some "humming", and I know what that means!

    Thanks!

If you are looking at SMART data, there isn't any standard. Each HDD vendor makes their own values up.

Out of all the values, there are disagreements over which matter and which don't. I watch 4 values and how they change over time. If the relocated sector ct changes quickly or becomes higher than 10, I replace the disk. Read somewhere that SMART data only shows pre-fail conditions 78% of the time, so over 20% nothing shows in the data prior to the disks failing.

Tom's Hardware and Backblaze have articles about reading SMART data.
https://www.backblaze.com/blog/hard-...s-for-q1-2018/ is the most recent from Backblaze.
