Unhappy Re: wireless stopped after last update

I have now accessed the grub menu from boot by holding shift key down and chosen Advanced options, and booted with kernel 4.13 generic, but still the wireless adapter doesn't work

Re: wireless stopped after last update

I reverted to 4.13 by pressing shift on boot, (actually had to esc on purple screen and then shift to get to advanced options

    then chose boot 4.13 generic

But then had to uninstall and reinstall wireless drivers as follows

    Code:
    sudo apt-get purge bcmwl-kernel-source
    sudo apt update
    sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source
    Hope That helps

I just want to set 4.13 as default now, Time to research again..

Re: wireless stopped after last update

Simon114, if you were trying to use the 4.15 kernel, you need a newer version of bcmwl-kernel-source as the Ubuntu 16.04 repositories don't have the needed patches for 4.15 yet

    Hi Jeremy31,

Would you be able to describe the process for installing the updated bcmwl-kernel-source for the 4.15 kernel?

    Thankyou

    Check
    Code:
    uname -a
    if it says x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux then download http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/poo...ntu4_amd64.deb
Boot into the 4.15 kernel and use terminal to go into the directory that it was downloaded to and
    Code:
    sudo dpkg -i bcmwl-kernel-source_6.30.223.271+bdcom-0ubuntu4_amd64.deb
Then reboot into the 4.15 kernel
