Running Visual Basic application on Linux (Wine?)

At my work we are currently experiencing some problems with windows 10. We started using W10 because reasons (cheaper, changing hardware, preinstalled etc) We use panel these PCs as HMIs and our VB6 applications run rather slow on W10. It is also a payne to strip these machines from all the redundant software such as Cortana. And we do not fully understand why certain operations take so long.

What I wanted to know, pure out of curiousity, if we could run these VB6 executables on Ubuntu (or other Linux distro) using something like Wine? This would save us money in the form of Windows licences. And IMO Linux > Windows

    Would this be possible?

I think there is a reasonable chance of them working, but the only way to be sure is to try it and see.
For a first step you might run Linux in a virtualbox VM to see if they work at all, but of course you need to do it on a real Linux when verifying performance.
