10" tablet - install ubuntu?

I bought a 10" tablet. The name, when it starts, it says it is an ll-yuntab, it was sold as a google tablet. Its an android tablet. It works just fine but the ads are driving me crazy and there seems to be no way to get rid of them. That being the case I am thinking of installing ubuntu on it. My question is whether anybody else has one of these and has successfully installed ubuntu on it. It was cheap so I won't be all that upset if I wreck it although I would prefer not to do that.

Thanks for the reply. I think I might make a run at installing ubuntu anyway. I bought my wife one of them cheap tablets a year ago and installed ubuntu with no problem. If I screw up I can always clean it up and reinstall android (I think)
