Question Compiling wireless driver made for an older version of the kernel

    Greetings!

I had recently bought a wireless adapter, TP-LINK TL-WN822N (https://www.tp-link.com/us/products/...TL-WN822N.html) for my new desktop. I had dual-booted Windows 7 with Ubuntu 18.04, and had installed the adapter's latest driver on Windows (D: 75-80 Mbps, U: 70-75 Mbps). With Ubuntu 18.04, the story was much more complicated. They did not have an install-able driver, and although the adapter worked without one, it was excruciatingly slow (D: 10 Mbps, U: 0.5 Mbps). After some Googling around, I came across the ndiswrapper tool, which is a terminal-based application capable of installing Windows Wireless Drivers on Ubuntu. I successfully installed the Windows driver, but there was just an increase of 0.5 to 1 Mbps in the speeds.

I'd like to know of this is an issue with Ubuntu itself, and whether there's a solution to my issue. Thanks in advance!
