Ubuntu 16.10 touchpad not working

Good morning, guys... I sold my old laptop where I was running mint, I bought myself a Lenovo 320 and decided to start using Ubuntu 16.10, after my install, my touchpad is not working. I found some answers here on the forums telling me to change some items in the grub file, but not sure if I did it right, as it is still not working. Please help.

Ubuntu 16.10 hasn't been supported since July 2017 - see Releases on the Ubuntu Wiki. Since you're having problems it would be best to install and if necessary get help with a currently supported release. You won't be able to install any new software of benefit from security fixes that have been applied to Ubuntu since 16.10 became "end of life".

Was there a particular reason that you decided to install Ubuntu 16.10 rather than something more up to date?

When I searched for the latest version, I found that version... I see on the forums here that newer versions where released, and I wasn't sure why I only got 16.10..' point me in the right direction please and I will install the latest version
