Incorrect password on first attempt when resuming from sleep

Every time I resume my computer (could be first thing in the morning or after walking away for 15 minutes), the first login attempt fails with an "Incorrect password" message. The 2nd login works. I have typed in my password very carefully and it still fails the first time. Strangely, the first login after a reboot works fine. Any idea what could be causing this?

Try hitting your backspace key a couple of times before entering your password.

Re: Incorrect password on first attempt when resuming from sleep

I have this same problem every time too (and yes I am using the stock gnome Ubuntu 18.04). I have been doing what Autodave suggests and just hitting backspace a couple of times and letting the system stew in its own juices for a second since I figured it was somehow trying to load up all the background stuff that makes things work. So, it's a little annoying but... it works. Just hit backspace a couple of times, take a deep breath and log in. For me it hasn't been so annoying as to make me want to NOT log in. So I am happy with that.
