Question Zorin OS Change Desktop Enviroment

I am currently running zorin os 12.3, due to current situation I can not get access to a usb drive or cd/dvd. I wish to semi convert into an xubuntu install, i have tried install xubuntu-desktop package but it clashes with dependencies such as zorinos-default-settings. I have now installed plain xfce4 but then gdm and lightdm dont work. Im having to use sddm, is their anyway I can convert into a full xubuntu install?

I know zilch about Zorin OS but I understand that you can install VirtualBox and as an interim measure install Xubuntu as vm until you have a working usb drive or cd/dvd to make a full Xubuntu installation. It is just an idea.
