The site 'Ubuntu Forums valid username.

Hi there

So over the last year or so, when I log in with SSO.

"The site 'Ubuntu Forums https' requires that you set a valid username."

So I enter the details and it says 'leona' as already been taken, ya by me!

Because I can't sort this out, I've just hit the "exit without updating" but I guess I should sort this out, so I can log in properly, is this something you guys an help me fix?

Did you read the sticky notes on this sub-forum.
Generally issue is email account. You must have the correct email for leona in SSO.
Any other email and it is not leana. And if it really is you, then you must be using a different email?

Yes, I did, but I am worried that entering a different using name will affect my ubuntu forms account.

You already are logged in & posting, so what is issue?
If you want a name change, see the sticky on that and post what you want.

I want to get rid of the extra step I have t go through to log in, the screen for Ubuntu One, asking for my personal details, so far I'm clicking the "exit without updating" link, but I assume I actually need to do something?

You cannot log directly in to the Ubuntu Forums any longer. To get to any resources owned by Canonical that require logging in, you must go through Ubuntu One SSO. This was imposed on us by Canonical and we can do nothing to change that.

You don't specify, but I think the page that is asking you for a "valid username" is an Ubuntu One page, over which we have no control. At different times, Ubuntu One has required both a name field and a username field, then only a name field, and then both a name field and username field. A couple of years ago the page that you saw started popping up for some people. I believe it appeared for people who didn't have value for a username field, but I can't be sure, because the Ubuntu One people never gave us forewarning that they would be getting up to things that would cause alarm and despondency amongst our members here.

As for the sentence "The site 'Ubuntu Forums https' requires that you set a valid username" is concerned, I can assure you that Ubuntuforums is quite happy with the perfectly valid username that you already have here. Where the idea that Ubuntuforums required something came from, I have no idea, but I would guess somewhere between the big blue yonder and the base of the rainbow.

You may be getting the impression that members of the Forum Council sometimes get a little ticked off with Ubuntu One. You may think that, but I could not possibly comment.

Ok, thank you, just wanted to ensue I wasn't doing anything wrong, right is a Ubuntu One thing and it's safe to ignore
