    Beta -> Final Release

    Maybe this is a dumb question, but I haven't been able to find an answer.

    If I have 18.04 Beta 2 installed, when the Final Release becomes available tomorrow, will it automatically be updated through the Software updater, or will I have to do a full reinstall? I am assuming since Ubuntu more or less seamlessly lets you upgrade from an older build, that it would be the same from beta to final, especially since the differences will be negligible compared to say 16 to 18.

    Thanks in advance!! I've been using Linux Mint on and off for years (and full-time for the last 6 months) and while I love it, I feel like it is too similar to Windows and I want to get out of my comfort zone! I've tried so many different Distros, but I always come back to the Ubuntu base. Manjaro is excellent, and would probably be my first choice if I was to move away from Debian/Ubuntu, but what is the point. Deb/Ubuntu is perfect in my opinion. Both powerful and user friendly!

    Yes.
    It will update to the final release automatically.
    No need to reinstall.

    Hello!

    Just keep doing your normal updates and you'll be all set. There's no need to do anything else.

    Cheers!

    Re: Beta -> Final Release

    Most who reinstall a newer iso from something like a beta release to a final release candidate do so for QA testing.
    (It's important for the devs to know if a particular build is broken or not, or has other issues)

    But in reality once you install any version of a particular release, be it 18.04 or 16.04. It'll be that release regardless of which iso it was installed from.
    So long as you keep it updated.
