    VirtualBox Ubuntu Instalation

    Hello,
I am currently installing ubuntu on a virtual box however when I press install ubuntu server it shows me a black screen
I have seen this blackscreen before on videos however these only last about 1 sec and mine is around 5 min now.
    Is this normal?
Its my first time installing this.

Five minutes is slow, but acceptable for the install process IMO. Really depends on your resources.

How many core and how much ram have you allocated to the VM? I do dual core and three gig of ram for my desktop VMs.

Do you load the iso direct from windows to the guest install or use a dvd? A direct load is much faster.

What version of windows/ubuntu/vBox are you working with?

aside from the above questions.... a lot depends on resources available and allocated...

I don't know how you plan to use the vbox install, but you could use an image such as the ones form Bitnami stack. They are basically already installed, they just need to be configured. so what you do is you would unpack them and run them and then just select the options you need/want and you are all set. very good for some services testing or website setup tests.
Read the easy to understand, lots of pics Ubuntu manual.
Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?
Full disk backup (newer kernel -> suitable for newer PC): Clonezilla
User friendly full disk backup: Rescuezilla
