    Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) Final Beta released

    Steve Langasek, on behalf of the Ubuntu Release Team, announces the release of Ubuntu 18.04 Final Beta. He lists the flavors that have participated in the release, tells us from where we can download the ISO images, and help with development of Ubuntu by providing bug reports and feedback.

    Upcoming Vacant Developer Membership Board seats: Call for nominations

    Jeremy Bicha announces that terms for five members of the Ubuntu Developer Membership Board are close to expiring, and puts out a call for nominations to fill the spots. Members of the ~ubuntu-dev team in Launchpad will be eligible to vote, with the vote commencing on Tuesday, April 17, 2018. They are seeking Ubuntu Developers who “should be well qualified to evaluate prospective Ubuntu developers and decide when to entrust them with developer privileges or to grant them Ubuntu membership status.”

    Simon Quigley advises on the state of the forthcoming 18.04 release, bugs that have been addressed and those yet outstanding. Of note is a proposal to discontinue the Alpha and Beta 1 milestones in favor of monthly coordinated testing of all ISOs intended to be shipped in the release.

    Didier Roche: Welcome To The (Ubuntu) Bionic Age: New WIP ubuntu theme as a snap

    Didier writes of the current status of the efforts to create the new Communitheme which will be the default Ubuntu theme in a near future. The polished Ambiance theme remains as default for the 18.04 release. For those interested he advises on some of the detail processes in the creation. Currently the new theme is available for testing in two snap packages. Testing and critique are most welcome.

    Launchpad News: Launchpad security advisory: cross-site-scripting in site search

    Mohamed Alaa discovers a cross-site-scripting vulnerability in Launchpad’s site search when the search engine was changed from Google to Bing. Implementing an escape in the TAL code resolved the issue.
