I recently got an XPS 15 9560 (specifically because of their good reputation for linux support) but have been having some issues since installing a dual-boot configuration with Xubuntu 17.10. Most of the issues I've managed to resolve, but the most infurating one remains which is problems with the trackpad.

Whenever I switch application windows, change focus in a web form or start typing in an input box, the cursor freezes. The only way to make it move again is by clicking a mouse button, tapping the touch screen or double-finger dragging (so involing the scroll wheel functionality). This is usually not desirable because my cursor is positioned somewhere where doing some of these actions will cause behaviour I don't want (such as clicking a button or changing tabs in a web browser). I've searched everywhere but can't find any reports of similar issues. I even tried calling Dell support but they unhelpfully said they don't support dual boot configurations.

Any ideas?
