Cool Nostalgic Clickety-Clackety Mechanical Keyboard Sounds SNAP

For us dinosaurs out there, someone created a SNAP that makes your keyboard sound like one of those old mechanical keyboards on the original IBM PC's. They even went through the trouble of sampling each individual key, so the space bar sounds different, etc.

It is available in the Software Center - search for Bucklespring.

Wow. The first time I used PaperClip on the C=64, I swore I'd never touch a typewriter again.

Now I can hear the clacketyclack!

I have (3) IBM 101m keyboards. 1 is on my main desktop. Best $1.50 I can remember spending in the mid-90s at a computer fair - $0.50/ea. Spill some coffee? No problem - grab a spare keyboard until I can get around to spraying out the coffee-covered one.

But they are annoying for anyone in the same ZIP code. Was talking with family on the phone while typing and they kept hearing a clickity sound - didn't connect it with my typing. Seems they didn't realize how fast I could type.

You can still get what is claimed to be the 'real deal':

I wanted a backlit mechanical keyboard (plus I'm cheap ) so I have one of these:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015MPQQ0A...521266876&sr=3

It uses a cherry blue switch knockoff which has been reliable so far. It's a bit quieter than I remember the real IBM keyboard but there's still an audible click so not really office friendly. It's a nice keyboard though, better than most of the membrane switch types I've used and the price is pretty reasonable.
